The current issue of SELF AWARE zine #8, should be out in about a week. It has been a long time coming and some of the contents may be a little bit dated but with all of shit on our plates, I don’t feel bad about it at all. This issue is stacked with awesome stuff. This issue features interviews with the legendary EYEHATEGOD, Punch, and a piece on The Measure’s impending demise. You can also expect the usual columns, reviews and short opinion pieces as well as a few other different things. Please support!!!

Next on the agenda is two releases on the label front. First off, we are releasing Matt Evans’ solo EP, “Senseless”. The B side will feature Matt’s backing band, Old Flings. All of this will be released on pro-printed cassette limited to 100 copies with digital download cards. Shortly after that we will be releasing the split 7″, from Yardwork and Andy The DoorBum. Both are Charlotte locals who have made an impact on the regional scene over the past couple years. We will announce more through the facebook/twitter pages.

We are still working on getting a new site, so be patient with us. We have been very busy with our 9 to 5’s, a big fest we are planning, TREASURE FEST, and my wedding in November. It’s all adding up and it takes a huge toll on your free time. On top of all this I am booking shows for other bands and my own. Please check out all of our other ventures in the mean time…

The Bandname album is now out and the response has been good. If you haven’t picked up your copy then go on over to the SELF AWARE webstore and pick it up today. We have finally finished updating the new webstore and have most of our many distro items listed there for your buying pleasure. The prices are ridiculously cheap so don’t hesitate. Bandname also has CDs available of the new album if you aren’t too into vinyl. We also have SELF AWARE shirts, stickers and buttons available now. The newest issue of the zine quickly sold out but we plan on printing more so be sure to pick up what is the 7th issues when it becomes available again. We are planning on working on a new site in the near future and will keep you updated with the next release when that information becomes available.

Bandname’s LP, “Breakfast” is moving right along and should be on its way to be pressed by the end of the week and available in time for FEST. Speaking of FEST, We are proud to announce that we have a table at the flea market in Holiday Inn, which coincides with check-in. If all goes well, you will see the 7th issue of SELF AWARE zine and the 7th release which is the Bandname LP. If you are interested in the LP, send $12ppd to selfawarezine@gmail.com and receive your copy before the distros get them.

In sad news, our webstore is dead, so buying all of our distro releases is going to be kind of hard until we get it all sorted out. I hope to have another store up and running in time for the release of the Bandname LP, but until then, we are just gonna have to be sad.

I can’t believe it has been two months since the last update. Things have been slow on the record front while we wait for the Bandname LP “Breakfast” to be mastered. In the time being we’ve been working on the new zine, our 7th issue, and talking about the future. We are working on making download cards for band for super cheap so if it all works out then you might see a Self-Aware download card in the Bandname LP.

We have been chatting with Charlotte, NC, locals, Calormen (members of Wretched, Harvard), about doing an unorthodox release. I don’t want to give too much away but the release will be primarily digital with some bells and whistles. It may take a few months before a proper “release” of the ep, “And The World Grew Stranger”, due in part to their other bands’ touring schedules, but there will be progress. In a few days, you should be able to get a taste of the new album, on the site, but for the time being, check them out on their myspace…

So we are still slowly working on making the site look really snazzy but for now, what you see is what you get. Also, we have big news to unveil.

The METH MOUNTAIN discography tape is finally out as is the new zine. It took awhile and is sorely behind schedule but I can’t complain because both look great. The tape has 18 tracks and some unreleased songs by the young but now dead band featuring members of Grids, Obstruction, Lowbrow, Young and in the Way and Pullman Strike and also has a digital download card for your listening pleasure. The zine has interviews with the legendary screamo band, Raein and the always amazing Make Do and Mend and some histories on Concrete Sox, Dag Nasty and Entombed. Also features some jibs from Algernon Cadwallader and Bandname.

Purchase both, the zine and tape together, for $5. either hit me up on email for go to our webstore. either way I will hook you up with some ultra cheap shipping. Be excited!!!

The site is still under construction but I felt the need to elaborate on a couple things that I mentioned in the last post. We currently wrapping up our first release for 2010 which is the final recorded output of Meth Mountain before their breakup early this year. On top of it having what would have been their next ep it also includes allof their recorded output and compiles it into a cassette tape. The cassette discography will have a digital download card since you can’t put tapes on your ipod. Also mentioned was the spring issue of Self Aware Zine. This will be our 6th issue so be excited. The issue will feature interviews with Raein, Make Do and Mend and also feature shorter pieces on Algernon Cadwallader and Philadelphia’s own, Bandname among a slew of reviews and interesting tidbits. If all goes well the zine should be done in a manner of weeks!

On the aforementioned band, Bandname, we will be releasing their debut LP which is tentatively entitled, “Breakfast.” If all goes as planned you can expect a late summer/early fall release. We are also trying to get some shirts, buttons and stickers printed so you can “rep” us hard.

So the site is under construction so there aren’t many pretty images to be seen. I apologize so for the time being please feel free to go to our webstore and/or look at our old “site” here.

We can also be followed on facebook and myspace if that makes you feel any better. We are busy with things so don’t write us off yet as lazy. We are currently wrapping up a late spring edition of the zine and are slowly working on releasing a tape and what will be Self Aware’s first LP!!!
