Not much else to say in this post, except this record is going to be awesome! Got the digital master the other day and it sounds amazing. All of your favorite things in indie/punk/college rock from the 90s thrown together, cohesively I might add, and also dashed in a heaping helping of Samiam, Texas Is the Reason and other stuff of the sort. I am super excited for this record. Bitter Melody Records is going halfsies on this release and together we are mega stoked. In the mean time, check out some of Old Flings‘ demo tape/cd in our webstore.

Also the demo tape from Late Bloomer is now available in our webstore.

Haven’t updated in a while but here is what is up. I have been planning the second annual TREASURE FEST and it has been a full time job. Not like a full time job where I work all the time, more like one where I drink coffee, field calls, and play with my dog, you know working from home. I really can’t complain. My wife probably will, with good reason too, I am draining our bank accounts with my bad hobbies. After May 19th it will be back to work in the real world. Sad day. Also sad is the passage of Amendment One, which defines marriage as solely between a man and a woman. It also strips rights away from single mothers too. Really bummed about the ramifications, all i can do is be glad that I voted against.

Next up on the slab is the Late Bloomer demo tape. Its a demo tape and it sounds rad. Really sweet DIY recording, lots of shred. Basically everything about the early 90s that makes you happy. Some Dinosaur, Jr., Jawbox, Superchunk and a little Husker Du fuzz. After that, and definitely more noteworthy, is the Old Flings LP. The band is wrapping up recording and after some mixing and mastering it should be off to the plant. Might be an early August release, just be patient. I heard some rough tracks. Someone described it as Quicksand mixed with Jawbreaker and I think that is a fitting descriptor. Throw in some Texas is the Reason too and you got Old Flings. This record is going to rock your world and Bitter Melody Records is helping us release it. Couldn’t be more stoked.

Check out Treasure Fest II. It features over 60 bands over two days in Charlotte, NC. All for only $25!!! You can buy a ticket from our webstore or you can buy a physical ticket from Lunchbox Records. You can also buy one from the Treasure Fest website. The fest features a slew of Self Aware bands (duh!), Old Flings, Just Die!, No Power, Mike Bell & the Movies, Andy the DoorBum, Pullman Strike, and newcomers Late Bloomer (demo tape out soon). Check out the website, facebook and twitter.

Copies of both 7″s are now available in our webstore, please check ’em out. Almost out of Nö Pöwer records. InkBlot, the other label that helped put it out, still has a lot of copies (for now). Mike Bell‘s 7″ is going strong, please pick up both while they are available. Next up on the plate isn’t necessarily a record, but my big plan is to join Just Die! for 10 days up and down the east coast. Please come out and buy some records/distro items so that we can put out stuff for the rest of the year. Next up, on the release front is the Late Bloomer demo tape. LB features members of Obstruction, Pullman Strike, Meth Mountain, Planet Piss, Horse Thief, and Nations, among others. We are pretty excited for the release. After that we are going to repress the Band Name LP at some point and start gearing up for the Old Flings LP. Its gonna be a busy year.

Lastly, I posted the Meth Mountain “Discography” for FREE in the download tab. If you never got to check them out here is your chance. We still have copies of the 7″ available. If you like what you hear please show support and buy a record!!!

We will have copies of the Mike Bell & the Movies 7″ on Sunday (3/4). We are really excited to support such an awesome band. They are touring down to SXSW and back so if they are coming through your town then please come out. We also just approved the tests on the Nö Pöwer 7″, so that is exciting as well. The records should be in soon. In other news, Just Die! just got “signed” to Goodwill Records out of Germany and they will be releasing a 7″ for the label. Very excited that people are starting to hop on the Matt Evansfan train, it’s about time and its also a good so that Steve Shell doesn’t kill everyone from too much World of Warcraft. If you bought the new records, then head over to the download page and pick up your free download. Lastly, we posted a FREE download of Neil Mauney’s (Pullman Strike, Late Bloomer) solo ep, so go check it out. In other Neil Mauney news, the Late Bloomerdemo cassette is getting mixed and should be out by the end of March if all goes well. Pretty awesome stuff. Go check out our webstore and go pick up some records so I can feed my dog.

Nö Pöwer features ex members of Grids (Luchbox/Inkblot/Made in Kansas), Meth Mtn (Self Aware/Lunchbox) and Obstruction (Lunchbox). Somewhere in that mixture of loud, fast, and noisy you have NO POWER.

If you are a fan of Japanese hardcore (Framtid, Bastard), early American hardcore (Siege, SSD), and d-beat (Discharge, Disclose) then you can’t go wrong with this 7″. Some of the loudest and most raw shit you will hear this year, I shit you not.Vinyl is randomly mixed colored. Features a digital download card so you can rage to it in your shitty car your parents bought for you.

Here is the cover for the Mike Bell & the Movies 7″, “Stuck In a TV.” Mike Bell and the Movies features members of Algernon Cadwallader, Bandname, and Dangerous Ponies. If you like your rock and roll dipped in Elvis Costello, rolled in some Pavement and Stephen Malkmus. Preorder your copy now and help keep Mike Bell on the road and out of the workplace. He deserves it and you deserve to have some new music in your ears.

If you are reading this then I would like to thank you for checking out the new site. There are still a few kinks to work out but I’m digging the simplicity. It also isn’t so damn depressing on this.
We already have a stacked year with releases and I am really stoked about all of them. First up is Mike Bell & The Movies’ debut 7” “Stuck In a TV”. If you like Elvis Costello, Pavement, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, or just simply good tunes then do yourself a favor and pick this up. It also doesn’t hurt that his backing band, The Movies, are Joe Reinhart and Peter Helmis of Algernon Cadwallader. There I said it.
Next up is Charlotte, NC, powerhouse d-beat band, No Power’s 7”, “No Axis”. Its really raw. So raw that if you were to consume it you might get food poisoning, but it’s a record so your ear holes will get poisoned, in a good way though. We also are having the pleasure of splitting this release with Ink Blot Records, and we are stoked. Just in case you are asking, “who the fuck is No Power?” then here ya go. The band features member(s) of Meth Mtn., Obstruction, and most importantly, Grids. It also features some of the most solid punx in the queen city.
After that we have some other stuff in the pipelines if the cash doesn’t dry out. We are working with Bitter Melody Records on the Old Flings LP, then we are working with a new band, Late Bloomer, featuring members of Meth Mtn., Obstruction, Pullman Strike, Scout, Planet Piss and Horse Thief. From my ears it sounds like Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr., Jawbox and Mudhoney lumped into one. Into it, can’t wait to see where it goes.
Lastly, on the horizon we have a split CD featuring Matt Evans and Roz Rizkin of the Rice Cakes. Then if all is well we will have a split LP fromCalormen and One Another. Might be a little bit but it will be astounding whenever it rears its ugly head. There are also some mumblings of a 2nd LP from Pullman Strike. It seems like 8-10 new songs are already churned out, just tightening things up and looking for a studio.
It’s gonna be an amazing year, and by the way, issue 9 of the zine is now available in the webstore. Thanks for your support. My hands are tired.

8/26/2011

So we have a couple new releases out as we speak and in a few weeks. First up is the long awaited release from Just Die!. Their new LP “A Momentary Lapse in Positive Thinking” is the most brutal thing they have done and you should pick it up while it is still available. I will only have a very small amount of the records in stock so get it from me while you can. If you like fast punk/hardcore that brings you back to the mid to late 90s and the early 00′s then this is your bag. Think Tear It Up, The Spark, and Paint It Black mixed with Kid Dynamite. Good shit.

Next up, and due out September 9th is the debut full length CD from Charlotte’s Pullman Strike. This is a little bit different than anything we have released but good tunes is good tunes, no matter what the genre. Their album, “People We Know” features ten tracks of shit kicking rock and roll mixed with alt-country. Think Lucero, Slobberbone, and Uncle Tupelo mixed with the working man aesthetic and punk vibe of Avail. Not a country/punk band but definitely a band that writes americana/indie steeped in DIY ethic.
Pick up both releases at our webstore and you can stream them now at their respective bandcamp pages.

So the Andy the Doorbum//Yardwork “split 7inch” is finally here and the official “street” date for it is July 6th. Both bands are going on tour in support of their new release. Andy is going on tour with the infamous Emotron and it should be pretty crazy wherever they may roam. Yardwork is a bit more mysterious and I really am not sure where their tour is taking them. It seems like they know and that is all that really matters.
